The restaurant was founded in 1909 as a tavern managed by the Bressanelli family: Augusto nicknamed “il Volpe” and his wife Gianna were two of the founders of the culinary tradition of Valeggio sul Mincio. Over time, the restaurant undergoes a pleasant transformation, first in an inn, then in a trattoria, to become today a restaurant immersed in a pleasant garden, where it is possible, in the summer, to eat in the shade of century-old horse chestnuts: perfect location for a fairytale wedding or a special occasion. During the winter season, guests are welcomed in rooms furnished with care, pleasantly rustic and elegant.
The dish that has characterized the place since its origins is certainly the grilled chicken, prepared in the large fireplace where, even today, it is cooked "on the grill", together with very tasty and succulent meats, such as Florentine and Costate. Salami, pancetta and cotechino, strictly of own production, are the pride of Romano, today patron of the restaurant.
The undisputed "king" of the first courses is the Tortellino "Nodo d’Amore" with melted butter, prepared by hand with a very thin sheet and a delicate meat filling. The other first courses, all made with egg pasta prepared daily, are fettuccine and bigoli al torchio with hare sauce, meat sauce, aubergines and baked "bocconcini", small roses of thin pasta stuffed with ham and cheese. All the patisserie is home-made: the millefeuille with a spoon with chocolate drops, the temptation to coffee, fruit in syrup and many other goodies!
